HEADLINE: ORCHESTRATING AI AGENTS & THE NETWORKING SECRETS OF TECH SUCCESS
TODAY'S HIGHLIGHTS:
Building effective multi-agent AI systems with practical deployment strategies
How to network strategically in the AI space to find the right clients
Insights from the robotics industry about humanoid automation adoption
Finding your place in the emerging AI ecosystem as a builder or consultant
INTRODUCTION:
Today's "What Are You Building with AI Tuesday" edition delivered exceptional value with special guest Noah, who provided in-depth insights about building AI agents and strategic networking in the emerging tech space. The episode also featured Jack sharing updates about an upcoming robotics automation conference, and discussions about the consulting vs. product building paradigm in the AI world.
MAIN INSIGHTS:
BUILDING EFFECTIVE AI AGENTS
Noah Santoni shared his experience building over 28 AI agents, focusing on orchestration challenges:
"When you're working on an orchestrator process, think a bit more about the context window for the agents. They don't have much, and less is more. If you're trying to do too much with one agent, try to split it up."
He emphasized the importance of detailed tool descriptions:
"Try and be very descriptive as to what the tool description is. The higher descriptive you are, the higher chance of success there is."
Noah also advised caution with MCP (Multi-Context Processing) agents in production:
"From a developer standpoint, it's like instead of using a shovel, using a massive machine to dig out the hole. That's the best way to describe an MCP. But in production, I really wouldn't use MCPs yet because of all the security risks."
PRACTICAL TAKEAWAY: When building multi-agent systems, focus on clear boundaries between agents, provide detailed tool descriptions, and be careful about cost implications in production environments.
STRATEGIC NETWORKING IN THE AI SPACE
Noah shared invaluable insights about positioning yourself in the AI ecosystem:
"You don't want to be successful when you're trying to come up with something. You want to be at the right time at the right place. And the only way you can do that is by trying to find the right place. You can't control the right time because that's destiny, but you can control being at the right place."
His approach to networking focuses on authenticity:
"I think the most important thing is making sure you're in the right place. Build your network. Be the most curious person in the room and ask as many questions as possible."
PRACTICAL TAKEAWAY: Focus on building relationships without expecting immediate returns. Position yourself in environments where decision-makers are present, and maintain authenticity in your interactions.
CYBERSECURITY EVENTS AS NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES
One of the most practical insights was Noah's approach to finding decision-makers:
"The most significant way I found the highest value is going to cybersecurity events. Companies who are going there are already having a major problem. Look for free cybersecurity events because the decision-makers, CEOs, CROs will go to those events."
He contrasted this with paid events:
"If you go to a high-paying event, the people there will be the minions of the decision-makers. Rather than going to that event, find the after-party or drinks happening around that event. That's where you'll have a much higher chance of success networking."
PRACTICAL TAKEAWAY: Target free cybersecurity events to connect with decision-makers dealing with urgent problems, and look for informal networking opportunities around major industry events.
FEATURED TOOL/TECHNOLOGY:
Noah highlighted Microsoft's Power Platform for agent building:
"Microsoft's Power Build platform now has full agentic workflows that you can set up. They made it more complex than some others, but if you're an engineer, they provided access to very detailed inputs and outputs. Because it's Microsoft, it's already SOC 2 compliant, CMMC compliant, with IT controls for access."
EXPERT CORNER:
Jack, who works in robotics, shared insights about the upcoming Automate conference:
"It's called Automate, and it's all robotics, from mobile robots to humanoids. It's a networking event put on by A3, the Association for Advancing Automation. What's really great is it's not just about selling machinery, it's geared towards networking."
Jack will be attending to investigate how companies are adopting AI in robotics:
"Our company is investigating humanoid robotics as an operational tool. For a small and medium-sized company, I think we're going to be one of the first that would look at adopting it in real-world applications."
QUICK HITS:
Be specific with AI agents - separate them into smaller, focused roles rather than trying to do too much with one agent
For AI tool descriptions in multi-agent systems, the more detailed you are, the better results you'll get
The best networking approach is to focus on finding the right place, as you can't control the "right time"
Cybersecurity events are high-value networking opportunities because decision-makers attend them directly
Success in emerging tech often comes after consistent effort - Noah signed a client who he had first spoken to 1.5 years earlier
RESOURCES MENTIONED:
Microsoft Power Platform - For building agentic workflows with enterprise compliance
Llama Index - Open source framework for agent building that allows model swapping
Langsmith - By Langchain, recommended for agent logging
Vercel v0 - AI tool specifically for building Next.js applications
n8n - Recommended for those new to agent building (no-code approach)
COMING UP:
Jack will provide a comprehensive report about AI adoption in robotics after attending the Automate conference
John announced progress on a tool that turns transcripts into authoritative SEO-optimized content, with beta testing coming soon
